About this trip

The debate has gone on for years—cruise Alaska’s legendary Inside Passage, or venture inland to majestic Denali? In 2027, you don’t have to choose. This is the ultimate Alaska experience—an unforgettable journey that brings together the very best of the Great Land in one seamless, spectacular holiday.

Your adventure begins in vibrant Seattle, one of our favorite cities, where you’ll enjoy a two-night stay in a deluxe downtown hotel with breakfast daily, a guided city tour, lunch at the iconic Ivar’s, and time to explore at your own pace. Then it’s north in style aboard the sleek Cascades train to Vancouver, where your Alaska voyage begins.

Step aboard Holland America’s elegant Nieuw Amsterdam and settle into a world of comfort and classic hospitality. Spacious staterooms—most with private balconies—set the stage for days filled with exceptional dining, engaging onboard experiences, and the raw, untamed beauty of Alaska unfolding before you. Towering glaciers, breaching whales, and endless wilderness surround you, culminating in a breathtaking day in Glacier Bay National Park, where park rangers bring this icy wonderland vividly to life.

And just when you think it couldn’t get better—it does.

Disembark in Whittier and board a luxurious rail journey deep into Alaska’s interior, bound for Denali. Spend three unforgettable nights at a superb lodge in this wild and awe-inspiring landscape. The crown jewel? A thrilling Tundra Wilderness Tour, where grizzly bears, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, and even wolves roam free. Between adventures, enjoy time your way—whether that’s hiking pristine trails, watching the mezmerizing Northern Lights, rafting glacial rivers, visiting sled dog kennels, or taking to the skies on an optional flightseeing excursion.

Your journey concludes in Fairbanks with a classic riverboat cruise and an overnight stay, making your journey home smooth and easy.

This is Alaska at its most extraordinary—by sea, by rail, and deep into the wild. With demand certain to be high, early reservations are strongly recommended.

All aboard for the adventure of a lifetime.

The "Crown of the Alaskan Wilds"

Denali Square™ at the Holland America Denali Lodge is the ultimate base camp. Spend your days sightseeing at Denali and the evenings winding down in creature comfort. Enjoy stunning views across the Nenana River into Denali National Park from virtually anywhere on the grounds, as well as upscale dining, quality entertainment, and local shopping.

Holland America Line is also the only cruise line to include the Tundra Wilderness Tour into Denali National Park. On this expertly guided 6- to 8-hour adventure, you’ll likely spot some combination of Alaska’s Big Five: grizzly bears, caribou, moose, Dall sheep, and wolves. In addition, there are countless bucket list opportunities—such as river rafting, flightseeing (including the chance to land with a ski plane on Denali itself), or meeting an Iditarod dog musher and getting a sloppy kiss from a sled dog.

When looking into Alaska cruise tours, consider including Denali National Park. The wildlife is abundant and easily viewable. There are 6-million acres of untouched land to explore, some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. Towering above is Denali, a mountain that will linger in your memory forever. Day 4 image

Inside Passage

Alaska's Inside Passage is a renowned cruising route through a protected network of waterways, featuring glacier-cut fjords, lush rainforests, and diverse wildlife. Stops along the route showcase Alaska's rich history, including Native Alaskan culture in Ketchikan and Skagway's Gold Rush era legacy. Here's how to experience the best of the Inside Passage.

Day 5

Day 5 image

Ketchikan AK

Take an adventure and cruise to Ketchikan, Alaska. Alaska's "First City" of Ketchikan is so named because it’s the first major landfall for most cruisers as they enter the picturesque fjords of the Inside Passage, where the town clings to the banks of the Tongass Narrows, flanked by green forests nurtured by abundant rain. Ketchikan has long been an important hub of the salmon-fishing and -packing industries.

Day 6

Day 6 image

Juneau AK

Cruise to Juneau and visit the most remote, most beautiful and strangest state capital in the United States. Surrounded by water, forest and mountain sights, visitors seeking things to do in Juneau indoors and outdoors can hike a glacier, eat fresh-caught fish on a seaside patio and tour a grand capitol building all in one day.

Day 7

Day 7 image

Skagway AK

At the height of the Klondike Gold Rush, the port town of Skagway served as the primary gateway to the legendary gold fields, and quickly grew into Alaska’s largest settlement. It was then a raucous frontier hub packed with trading posts, saloons and guesthouses. As the gold rush faded into the 1900s, so did Skagway—but today it has been reinvigorated as a gateway for a new kind of visitor: those looking to explore Alaska’s colorful history, pristine wildlife and unrivaled natural beauty.

Day 8

Day 8 image

Glacier Bay

On your cruise to Glacier Bay, close your eyes and take in the sounds—the creaks and groans of “living” ice, the shrill cries of gulls and soaring eagles, the splash of a breaching humpback whale. Frosted peaks towering over mossy forests, wide tidewater glaciers (there are seven in the park), and marine wildlife are givens on Glacier Bay cruises, but every experience in this changing biosphere is unique.

Day 9

Day 9 image

College Fjord

An Alaska glaciers cruise is the best way to see majestic, centuries-old rivers of ice cascading from the mountains to the sea. Glaciers have shaped many Alaska lakes, rivers and valleys one slow centimeter at a time. They’ve fascinated scientists and inspired artists for a long time. Scenic cruising College Fjord will bring you close to many glaciers—there’s even a spot where you can see eight at once. Your chances of watching ice thunder into the water is high, as the Prince William Sound is one of the most active areas for calving.

Day 10

Day 10 image

Whittier & Denali AK

The Whittier, Alaska cruise port is a unique stop on a Holland America Line cruise tour. Here we board the acclaimed Mc Kinley Explorer train for the beautiful ride to Denali.

Day 11 & 12

Day 11 & 12 image

Denali National Park, AK

Denali is the number one reason to book Alaska cruise tours into the state’s rugged wilderness and it’s easy to understand why. At an impressive 20,310 feet above sea level, Denali isn’t just any mountain; it’s the centerpiece of Alaska’s interior, a shining jewel rising above pristine Alaska wilderness.

Day 12

Day 12 image

Fairbanks, AK

This morning, a scenic drive brings us to Fairbanks where a riverboat discovery cruise awaits followed by an overnight hotel stay, making easy air connections home the next day simple and easy.
